HR Leave Administration Certificate Program
Event Details
HR Leave Administration Certificate Program
Leave laws and mandated benefits are among the most complex areas of HR administration. FMLA, NJFLA, ADA/NJLAD, TDI, FLI, NJSAFE, Workers’ Compensation, and Earned Sick Leave each have their own requirements, but leave requests rarely involve just one law. Understanding the foundations of these laws, along with how they interact and intersect, is essential for NJ employers to make sound decisions, manage leave effectively and maintain compliance. With the expansion of job protection to employees receiving TDI and FLI benefits while on leave, understanding these intersections is more important than ever.
The HR Leave Administration Certificate Program is designed for HR professionals who need more than a surface-level overview. This four-part virtual program provides a practical, in-depth look at the federal and NJ laws governing employee leave, disability and family-related benefits, with an emphasis on how the rules apply in real workplace situations.
Over four live, 2.5-hour sessions, you’ll develop a working understanding of:
- Federal Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and NJ Family Leave Act (NJFLA) –coverage, eligibility, reasons for leave, practical administration, medical documentation, job restoration and more
- Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and NJ Law Against Discrimination (NJLAD) – specific focus on leave as a reasonable accommodation
- NJ Temporary Disability Insurance (TDI) and Family Leave Insurance (FLI) – eligibility, benefits, private plans, and employer responsibilities, including:
- July 2026 TDI/FLI changes providing an independent right to reinstatement
- Workers’ Compensation (WC) – how benefits may intersect with leave
- NJ Earned Sick Leave and NJSAFE Acts – key requirements and practical administration
