How to Have Difficult Conversations with Employees
Join Us Virtually
Event Details
Difficult conversations are one of the hardest parts of leading people. Whether it's addressing a performance issue, pointing out a behavior that's affecting the team, or sharing feedback an employee doesn't want to hear, most managers would rather avoid the conversation than have it. This workshop is for anyone who manages people and wants to stop dreading those moments and start handling them with confidence.
This interactive, virtual workshop is designed to help you:
- Understand the factors that lead to effective, productive difficult conversations.
- Learn practical strategies to deliver hard messages with clarity and kindness.
- Learn practical strategies to receive pushback and feedback from employees without shutting down.
- Build a team environment where honest conversations feel safe and expected.
This training gets into the mindset behind both sides of a difficult conversation. You'll walk away with practical ways to say the hard thing with confidence, take in your employee's response without getting defensive, and keep the relationship intact through it all. We'll also cover how to build a team culture where difficult conversations feel safe so they become a tool people actually use to grow, instead of something everyone tries to avoid.
- This is not a lecture. You'll participate in interactive exercises, small group discussions, breakout rooms, real time polls, and practical tools you can apply immediately.
- Each participant will receive a workbook to use during the workshop and to take away for reference later.
- Participants will also receive access to the Work Wise Labs Giving and Receiving Feedback Self-Paced Mini-Course as reinforcement of the learning.
